The debate competition has now transferred from the Monlam Pavillion to Tergar Shrine Hall, where teams of nuns continue to compete enthusiastically, watched by the assembly of all of the nuns. This will be the last grand debate until 13th February.

It’s obvious to all how the nuns’ confidence has grown since the first debates were held some years ago. The remainder of the nuns listen attentively, following the debate, as the three seated responders parry with the nun or group of nuns presenting the argument, both sides using scripture and logic to establish their points.

Meanwhile, the seven judges, seated on the front row, assess the degree of skillfulness and understanding displayed by the competitors.
